Welcome to the FREE Recipe Showdown cooking game, where a new ingredient is given each month by a different game host. A new game host is selected based on the best recipe, preferred by the host, and not on its photo. We want to encourage everyone who can post a recipe online to participate, not only bloggers. If you're selected to be the new host, kindly thank the previous host for nominating you, including the link to the host's site (as well as the link to the game's homepage). Invite your friends to play along and share the results on your social media.

Variations to the rules are allowed, i.e. selecting honorary winners: multiple recipe winners, food photography winner, most innovative recipe, etc.; however, there should be only one winner who will be the next host.
Recipe Showdown - Ingredient for January 2017
So, let's kick off this recipe showdown game with the challenge for January. The ingredient is:
Gorgonzola is a veined Italian blue cheese, made from unskimmed cow's milk. It can be buttery or firm, crumbly and quite salty, with a "bite" from its blue veining. I chose this cheese for its versatility. Its "bite" can be tamed by pairing it with fruit, like in my purple potato gnocchi with creamy Gorgonzola sauce, but for the challenge, I will be making a new recipe. I am quite excited to try it.
Share with us your best creation using this cheese. We won't be strict - if you can't find Gorgonzola you can use any other blue cheese. Perhaps you already have few recipes with this Italian cheese. Submit them all to [email protected] by the last week of January and they will be featured here on the first of February. Please remember to include one photo of the recipe and a link where the recipe can be found!
