Need an impressive Christmas treat that you can make in no time? Try this easy hack: store-bought cookies, almonds, and sugar glaze make these sweet edible Christmas candles a festive table decoration or gifts for the office. Best of all, there's no baking involved!
I don't know about you, but I take on too many projects during the holidays. Don't get me wrong, I love the tasty treats and holiday cheer but I get overwhelmed quickly. I blame it on my age. Granted, I'm not as energetic as I used to be, but trying to do it all is not wise even if you're in your prime.
I also take pride in making everything most everything from scratch and organic, so this treat is off the track. But it saves time and it looks so festive, so I just couldn't resist.
Besides, they'd make such a neat gift for co-workers. Wrap them individually in a clear foil with a pretty bow and a holiday tag - voila! Add a small bottle of homemade Christmas Baileys to the gift bag and you'll be everyone's favorite. 😉
I found the ingredients at Aldi (not an affiliate). You will definitely find these wafers and cookies around Christmas but sometimes offseason as well. If not, there's always a good ole Amazon (see essentials box below).

Edible Christmas Candles - an Easy Hack
[bctt tweet="No-bake gorgeous #Christmas treats in minutes with an easy #hack. Sweet edible #candles make a perfect #gift." username="via all_thats_jas"]
Ingredients:
Makes 15 candles
- 15 raw almonds
- 1 box fudge marshmallow cookies aka pinwheels
- 15 wafer rolls
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1-2 tablespoons water
~ Free Tip ~
- Use any cookies with a hole in the middle like the German chocolate covered gingerbread cookies in the shape of stars and hearts. Just make sure they have a hole big enough for the wafers.
- Adjust the number of wafers and almonds, depending on the number of your cookies.
Directions:
- Bring a small pot of water to a boil. Place your raw almonds into the boiling water. Let them boil for exactly one minute. Drain, rinse under cold water and drain again. Pat dry and slip the skins off. Set aside.
- Fit wafer rolls, chocolate side down, into the cookie holes.
- Mix powdered sugar with water, adding a little at a time, until you get a smooth, thick glaze.
- Add a little of the glaze around the base of the wafers to set in place. Then add the glaze on the top of wafers, allowing a small amount to drip down the side.
- Immediately place blanched almonds, pointy side up, onto the top.
- Keep in a cool place or refrigerated until ready to serve.

Thank you, Miz Helen! Always a pleasure partying with you. 🙂
These look amazing Jas I wonder if I can find similar cookies in Ireland to make these
Oh, Amber, I'm sure you can find something similar. Like the assorted biscuits from Jacob's - "Afternoon Tea" have the cookies with a hole in the middle and wafers. Or you could use the long rolled wafers that mostly come in a tin and are filled. If you look closely, you'll start seeing possibilities everywhere 🙂
These are so cute! I love them - oh please, I'd love to have you share at our what's for dinner party! http://www.lazygastronome.com/whats-dinner-sunday-link-party-124/

They look great fun.
Thanks, Lydia!
Easy and tasty along with a lovely presentation. You can't get any better than that.
I agree, Debra! 🙂
I know you pride yourself on most everything from scratch Jas, but I might have lower standards... Okay, I do. Anyway though, these are a genius hack & I'm going to make them for sure.
Um, you could just send me a bottle of that coffee whitener... It's my favourite. I make the homemade version too, but I'm def not above Vendor bought. Not fussy. Carolans or O'Darbys are the next best thing, but Carolans has the viscosity just right while O'Ds is a little thin. Plus, Carolans is cheaper. That's a free tip for you today. 😉 Research.
Thanks for the free tip and doing the research for me, Mrs. Shoes 🙂 I don't make it from scratch except for Christmas. Otherwise, I buy the original Baileys Irish Cream. 😉
